Malta
Malta has an ageing population, which might ask for a greater workforce in the care sector in the future. The ethos persisting among the Maltese people is for the elderly to stay active and at home as long as possible. Domiciliary long-term care (LTC) at home is usually preferred over LTC in residential facilities by the people as well as by the state. The current main political instruments in the Personal and Household Services (PHS) sector aiming at the goal of domiciliary care are Home Help, CommCare, the Carer at Home Scheme, the Carer’s Allowance (or Pension), and the Work at Place Scheme/ Jobsplus training and education programme for the care for children, people with disabilities and elderly people. In the future, the PHS sector in Malta could open up job opportunities for migrants and elderly working women with lower qualifications. Furthermore, local initiatives have tried to create incentives for elderly people to stay more active in their community and to be able to live at home as long as possible.
Malta għandha popolazzjoni li qed tixjieħ, u dan jista’ jfisser li tkun meħtieġa forza tax-xogħol akbar fis-settur tal-kura fil-futur. L-etos li jippersisti fost il-poplu Malti huwa li l-anzjani jibqgħu attivi u d-dar tagħhom għall-itwal żmien possibbli. Il-kura domiċiljarja fit-tul (LTC) fid-dar hija ġeneralment preferuta milli LTC f'faċilitajiet residenzjali kemm min-nies kif ukoll mill-istat. L-istrumenti politiċi attwali ewlenin fis-settur tas-Servizzi Personali u tad-Dar (PHS) li jimmiraw lejn l-għan tal-kura domiċiljarja huma Home Help, CommCare, l-Iskema ta’ Carer at Home, Allowance (jew Pensjoni) għall-Carers, u l-Iskema ta’ Work at Place / programm ta’ taħriġ u edukazzjoni ta’ Jobsplus għall-kura tat-tfal, il-persuni b’diżabilità u l-anzjani. Fil-futur, is-settur tal-PHS f’Malta jista’ jiftaħ opportunitajiet ta’ xogħol għal ħaddiema nisa migranti u anzjani bi kwalifiki aktar baxxi. Barra minn hekk, l-inizjattivi lokali ppruvaw joħolqu inċentivi għall-anzjani biex jibqgħu aktar attivi fil-komunità tagħhom u jkunu jistgħu jgħixu d-dar għall-itwal żmien possibbli.
